Spring rape "Madrigal"

For rape cultivating farms a high-yielding variety has been obtained, it combines a stable yield, high quality seeds and tolerance to major diseases. Since 1999 it has been included in the State Register of protected varieties (RF patent number 0288) and approved for use in production.

Variety pedigree: the variety has been obtained by hybridization of Omega x Hannah varieties.

Botanical characteristics. Plant height is from 92 to 102 cm. Plant anthocyanin color is absent. The cotyledons are very wide. The anthocyanin coloration of hypocotyl is absent or very weak. The leaves are green, with no anthocyanin, waxy coating is weak. The development of leaf segments is average. The leaf margin serration is moderate. The petals are yellow. The anther spotting is absent. The flowering time is average. The pod length (without the beak) is average. The pod beak is short. The seeds are round and black, 1000 seeds weight is 3,3-4,1 g.

Biological features.The variety is mid-ripening, the vegetation period to seed maturation is 107-113 days. The variety is resistant to lodging and seed shattering. Its resistance to Alternaria and Peronosporosis is average, at the level of the standard. Its resistance to Fusarium is high, 2-2.5 times higher than Hannah variety’s. The variety is moderately damaged by cruciferous flea beetles and blossom beetles.

Competitiveness. Due to its high productivity and high quality of the seeds “Madrigal” variety is quite competitive in the Central, Volga-Vyatka, and East Siberian regions, where the variety is introduced in the State Register and approved for production.

Main advantages. This variety provides high yield, produces high quality oil and meal, it is also resistant to major diseases, technologically oriented for mechanical harvesting. It is recommended for cultivation for seeds and animal feed purposes.

In the field tests conducted by FSBI ARIR the variety yield was 2.59 t / ha , it exceeded the standard variety indices as Hannah variety by 0.52 t / ha or 25.1%, for the oil yield the index was higher by (1.09 t / ha) - 0,21t / ha.

Variety type "00".The fat content in the seeds is 43,7-45,1% , the content of erucic acid in the oil is 0.1-0.3% , the content of glucosinolates in the meal is 0.2-0.5% (4,7-11,7 umol / g), the content of the protein in seeds is 18,3-20,1%. The green mass contains 18.1% protein.

The commercial value of “Madrigal” variety is its high yield, its resistance to various biotic stressors, high quality of oil and meal and its technology of cultivation.
