This variety has been created for the North-West region, the variety combines high yields with high quality seeds and disease resistance. Since 1999 it has been included in the State Register of protected varieties (RF patent number 1029) and approved for production.
Variety pedigree: The variety has been obtained by chemical mutagenesis followed by individual family selection from Galaxy variety (Sweden).
Botanical characteristics. The plant is of medium height (99 cm). It has no anthocyanin color. The cotyledons are wide. Hypocotyl anthocyanin color is weak. The leaves are green, with no anthocyanin , but having a strong waxy coat. The development of the leaf segments is average. The leaf margin serration is moderate. The petals are yellow. The anther spotting is very absent. The flowering time is average. The pod length (without the beak) is average. The pod beak is short. The seeds are round and black. 1000 seeds weight is 3.1-3.8 g.
Biological features. The variety is mid-ripening, the vegetation period to seed maturation is 97-108 days. The susceptibility to downy mildew and Alternaria is average at the standard level. The variety is highly resistant to Fusarium, which is significantly higher than the same index of Hannah variety. It can be slightly damaged by cruciferous flea beetles. The variety is resistant to lodging.
Competitiveness. Due to its high productivity potential and high seed quality the variety is quite competitive in the North Western and neighboring regions.
Main advantages. High yielding with the high oil and oilseed meal quality, this variety is resistant to various biotic factors and is oriented for mechanical harvesting. It recommended for cultivation for seed and feed purposes.
In the field tests for competitive interactions conducted by FSBI ARIR (1992-1995 gg.) variety “Lyra” had the average yield of 2.71 t / ha, which exceeds the standard index of Hannah variety by 0.56 t / ha, and as for oil yield (1.03 t / ha ) the index of “Lyra” was higher than the Hannah variety index by 0.11 t / ha.
Variety type "00". The content of erucic acid in the oil is 0.1-0.3%, the content of glucosinolates in the cake meal is 0.2-0.6% (4,7-14,0 mol / g), the indices of fat and protein content in the seeds were respectively 45,5-46, 1% and 19,0-20,2%. The average protein content in the green weight was 17.9%.
The commercial value of the variety lies in its ability to give the highest yield in the North-West region of the country, having the seeds of high quality, together with high quality oil and meal, it is also resistant to various diseases and pests.
