Spring rape "Frigate"

For different regions of Russia a mid-season, high-yielding variety of spring rape has been obtained , the variety combines high productivity with high seed quality and resistance to major diseases. Since 2006 it has been included in the State Register of protected varieties (RF patent №3026) and approved for production.

Variety pedigree: the variety has been obtained using mass population method for hybrid combination PF 1052/92 x Zemu 250.

Botanical characteristics. The plant is of medium height (97-132 cm). The stem is green, with no anthocyanin, beardless, with a strong waxy covering. The length and width of the cotyledon are average. The hypocotyl hairs are absent. The leaf is green without anthocyanin, but with a strong waxy coating and with no hairs. The midrib of the leaf is average and leaf margin serration is also average. The petal is yellow. The spotting of the anther is strong. The flowering time is early. The pod (without the beak) is of medium length. The beak of the pod is average. The seeds are round and black. 1000 seeds weight is 3.8-4.3 g.

Biological features. The variety is mid-ripening , the vegetation period is 87-96 days. It is resistant to lodging and seed shattering. It is characterized by a high degree of adaptation to the agro-climatic conditions of the Volga region and Western Siberia.

The variety is damaged by Alternaria and downy mildew less than the average variety, the variety is moderately damaged by Fusarium. The variety is moderately damaged by cruciferous flea beetles and by rape blossom beetle.

Competitiveness. Due to its high productivity , adaptability and its seed quality variety “Frigate” is quite competitive in the Middle Volga, Lower Volga, West Siberian, East Siberian and Far Eastern regions.

Main advantages. With high yields, high oil and seed quality, this variety is oriented for mechanical harvesting. The variety is recommended for seeds and animal feed purposes.

In the tests conducted by FSBI ARIR the average yield of seeds was 1.91 t / ha which significantly exceeded standard variety Ratnik index by 0.2 t / ha or 11.7%. As for gross harvest of vegetable oil variety Frigate exceeded the standard index by 9.5% - 758 and 692 kg / ha, respectively.

Variety type "00". The oil has practically no erucic acid, the content of glucosinolates in the seed averages 1.10% (25.7 mol / g). The fat content in the seeds is 42,9-44,8% , the protein content in the seeds is 22,9-25,5%.

The commercial value of “Frigate” variety is in its advantages over the standard in seed yield, high oil and meal quality, its resistance to the main biotic stress factors (as pests and diseases), easy cultivation and harvesting ability.
