This variety has been created for different regions of Russia, the variety combines high yields with high quality seeds and disease resistance. Since 2010 it has been included into the State Register of protected varieties (RF patent number 5231) and approved for production.
Variety pedigree: The variety has been obtained by individual selection in F2 from hybrid combination of LG 3260 x Ratnik varieties.
Botanical characteristics. The plant is of medium height (93-112 cm). It has no anthocyanin color on the stem. Anthocyanin color of the hypocotyl is strong. The leaves are green, with no anthocyanin and downiness. The wax coating on the upper side of the leaf is medium. The development of leaf segments is average. The leaf margin serration is from moderate to high. The petals are yellow. The length and width indices are average The anther spotting is very weak. The flowering time is early or average. The pod length (without the beak) is average. The pod beak length is average. The pedicel is of medium length. The seeds are round and black. 1000 seeds weight is 3.5-3.6 g.
Biological features. The variety is middle-early, its vegetation period in the forest steppe of the Central Chernozem Region is 76-82 days (it is in average 4 days shorter than the period of Ratnik). It is resistant to lodging and seed shattering. It is characterized by successful adaptation to the agro-climatic conditions of the European regions of Russia and Siberia.
The susceptibility to Alternaria, Phomosis , Peronosporosis and Fusarium is lower than the standard indices. It can be averagely damaged by cruciferous flea beetles and by rape blossom beetle.
Competitiveness. Due to its high productivity and adaptability, its high seed quality and early ripening, variety “Ermak” is quite competitive in the North, Middle Volga, Urals, West Siberian and East Siberian regions.
Main advantages. Highly productive, early ripening , with high quality oil and meal, the variety is technologically oriented and suitable for mechanical harvesting. It recommended for cultivation for seeds and for animal feed purposes. During the field trials conducted by FSBI ARIR the variety had in average a production level of 1.98 t / ha which significantly exceeded the standard index of Ratnik variety by 0.10 t / ha or 5.3%. The maximum yield made up 3.83 t / ha.
Variety type "00". The oil has practically no (0.13%) erucic acid, the content of glucosinolates in the seed is 0,51-0,76% (11,7-17,8 mmol / g). The content of crude fat in the seeds is 41,4-46,2% , the content of protein in the seeds is 22,3-25,4%.
The commercial value of this variety is in its high seed yield and high feed productivity, its high oil and meal (cake) quality, its resistance to various diseases, besides, its technology of cultivation and harvesting.
