For the conditions of the North, West-Siberian and Far Eastern regions a variety has been created which combines high productivity potential , high adaptability, high quality oil and seeds and strong resistance to major diseases. Since 2011 it has been included in the State Register of protected varieties (RF patent number 5767), approved for production use.
Variety pedigree: the variety has been created in F2 from LC-053-00 x Ribel combination by the individual selection method.
Botanical characteristics. The plant height is average (88-112 cm). The stem is without anthocyanin coloration. The cotyledon length and width indices are average. The hypocotyl anthocyanin coloration is average. The leaves are green with no anthocyanin. The leaf length and width indices are medium. The waxy coat on the upper leaf side is average. The lacinia number is average. The lacinia footstalk length and development degree indices are average. The leaf margin serration varies from mild to moderate. The petals are yellow, the length and width indices are average. The anther spotting is very weak. The pedicel length is average. The flowering is early. The pod length (without the beak) is average. The pod beak length is average. The seeds are round and black. 1000 seeds weight is 3.1-3.4 g.
Biological features. The variety is mid-season, the growing period is 91-94 days. The lodging resistance index is above the average, the seed shattering index is average. The susceptibility to Fusarium, Phoma lingam and Peronosporales is weak, the susceptibility to Alternaria is average at the same level as the standard variant (Ratnik variety). The variety is slightly damaged by cruciferous flea beetles and rape blossom beetle.
Competitiveness. Due to the high productivity potential and adaptability, as well as to high seed quality "Avantgarde" variety is quite competitive in the North, West-Siberian and Far Eastern regions, that is why this variety has been added to the State Register and approved for the use in production.
Main advantages. High yielding with the high oil and seed quality, technologically oriented for mechanical harvesting, this variety is recommended for cultivation for fodder purposes in the Nordic regions ; the variety provides a stable seed production in the West-Siberian and Far Eastern regions.
During the tests conducted by the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution , All-Russian Rapeseed Research Institute (CSI 2006-2008) variety seed production was 2.14 t / ha, which exceeds the standard index (Ratnik variety ) by 0.23 t / ha or 12.0% in average. The maximum seed yield of 3.19 t / ha was obtained in 2010 by Yashkinsky SSU of Kemerovo region.
Variety type "00". The oil contains practically no erucic acid. The content of glucosinolates in the seeds is 0,51-0,71% (11,9-16,6 mmol / g), the content of crude fat is 40,5-43,5% (in average 0.7% higher than the standard variant), seed protein is 21,8-23,9%.
Commercial value of Avantgarde variety lies in its ability to provide a stable yield of seeds and green mass in different regions of Russia.
